Milwaukee, "A Great Place on a Great Lake"
On the shore of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee offers a huge range of activities for students during their stay. As the largest city in Wisconsin, you will have all of the benefits of living in a big city, but in a very welcoming environment.
Some may associate Milwaukee with heavy industry; however significant work has gone into revamping areas of the city. Now you can go sailing or windsurfing on the fifth largest lake in the world!
Milwaukee, "City of Festivals"
In addition to water sports on the lake and attractions such as the local zoo, Milwaukee also hosts many cultural festivals throughout the year which showcase cuisine and music from around the world.
One of the largest music festivals, Summerfest attracts nearly one million visitors a year, and takes place alongside the lake. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it is the largest music festival in the world.
The Milwaukee Art Museum, symbol of renewal
When in Milwaukee, you must visit the art museum. As a major attraction of the city, much effort was put into the architecture of the museum, designed by the Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. The building has a unique mobile sunshade, which is an attraction in itself! As it unfolds, it resembles a bird spreading its wings, taking flight in the direction of the lake.
