ELS English Program with Nike Sports Camps in California – on campus
Study abroad program with professional tennis, basketball or football coaching for young children and teenagers in San Anselmo, USA
This exciting summer program offers young people from around the world the opportunity to actively improve their English skills with ELS whilst benefitting at the same time from professional coaching in their chosen sport (basketball, football or tennis). In addition, participants will have the chance to take a program of activities and excursions allowing them to explore America. Located in San Anselmo, California, just 30km from San Francisco, ELS welcomes you to the boarding school campus of the San Domenico School. The school was founded in 1850 and the 200 hectare campus boasts a wonderful range of sports and academic facilities, including a music conservatory, riding stables, swimming pool, gymnasium and six tennis courts.
Designed for young people between the ages of 9 to 15 years, this program aims to give participants an active program of professional coaching in their chosen sport, a 10-lesson per week English language program, and an array of activities and excursions to local sites, including San Francisco, and nearby theme parks, such as Six Flags.
This program focuses on conversational English. The program includes two hours and 15 minutes of classes each afternoon (Monday – Thursday), equivalent to ten 50-minute lessons per week.
Activities during the week
Supervised activities include a range of intramural sports (tennis, kickball, dodge ball or swimming), hiking in the mountains surrounding the campus, or arts & crafts – including pottery for two hours each afternoon (Monday – Thursday) from 15.30 – 17.30. In addition, an extended off-campus excursion will take place on Friday afternoons to a local shopping mall. The participants will also have the opportunity to attend a Major League Baseball game one evening and experience the American past-time firsthand. All activities are supervised by experienced, trained and vetted ELS staff members.
In the evening students will have time to catch up with friends and family at home or to participate in relaxed activities held on site, such as board games, movies and other indoor pursuits.
The two supervised excursions consist of a San Francisco city tour, which includes the Golden Gate Bridge and the famed Fisherman’s Wharf, and a trip to Six Flags Amusement Park.
Nike Sports Camps
Students will have four hours per day each morning (Monday – Friday) with professional Nike coaches to help them develop their skills in their chosen sport.
The campus offers predominantly double room accommodation in the residence halls (a few students may be placed into quads). 19 meals per week are included in the program cost.
